The Long Island Ducks announced a radio partnership with My Country 96.1 FM to broadcast all weekend games both home and away for the next three seasons.

“It’s a great day in Ducks history,” remarked team General Manager, Michael Pfaff. “We couldn’t be happier about this partnership with John Caracciolo and WJVC.”

The Ducks last radio signal was in 2009 with the last FM signal back in 2008. What WJVC brings to the Ducks is a very strong signal allowing fans to enjoy games throughout Long Island when they are not able to make it to the ballpark.

“Having a three-year agreement with a signal this strong really helps us expand our region in the Long Island market,” said Pfaff. “This is something we were looking to do.”

The Ducks are part of the Liberty Division of the Atlantic League and will begin their 2011 season taking on their cross-sound rival, the Bridgeport Bluefish. The four game series will include WJVC’s first weekend broadcasts of the season.

“I really feel like we’ve arrived,” said an elated Ducks owner Frank Boulton. “I’ve been in professional baseball for 25 years and to have baseball on FM radio is my dream. This is really a big day for Ducks fans and Long Island radio.”

For both parties involved, it seemed to be a no-brainer combining baseball and country music. The theme for the upcoming season “Long Island in Ducks Country” blends together America’s game with the sounds of My Country 96.1 FM.

“We are so proud to be part of this organization,” said WJVC President John Caracciolo. “This is such a perfect partnership for us and the Ducks have been doing great family value entertainment on Long Island for over a decade.”

The Long Island Ducks Radio Network’s broadcast team includes popular radio personalities Chris King and David Weiss, both of whom have been involved with the team since the inaugural 2000 season. Minor league veteran Casey Lynn returns for his third season behind the microphone for the Ducks.

Opening Day is May 6 at Bethpage Ballpark and features an early re-match with Bridgeport. It is also a special day in Ducks history as former player/coach Kevin Baez makes his managerial debut – and it can all be heard on WJVC My Country 96.1 FM.
